Cyberguys - Cool geeky store
They have a ton of really interesting and amusing items. And I've occasonally forgotten the name/url of the store, if I don't have a catalog around. So here's a reminder... :-)

LinksysInfo.com
great site on turning your linksys router into a fancy linux box. :-)
specifically making notes about http://linksysinfo.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=390&highlight=vpn+user&sid=7931e946355aa7b24d4e4ac19c3be4db which FINALLY shows how to (maybe) create VPN users using the CHAP secrets box.
Not that I've gotten it working yet. But I did upgrade the router and things seem to work...
If only there were some XML 'settings' save/load feature. Ah well.

iPod as Universal Remote
http://features.engadget.com/entry/6336778455600767/ details how to turn your iPod into a universal remote!
It works using Griffin Technology's Total Remote package (note that Griffin Tech is also the manufacturer of the --still vaporware-- Radio Shark) to record IR commands from an existing remote and convert them to sound files. You can then name them appropriately, put them into an appropriately-named playlist (e.g. "DVD Player"), copy them to the iPod, and blast the signals back to the devices. Range is controlled (I believe) via the volume :-)
This is one seriously neat software/hardware package. And luckily, some guys at work all have PocketPC (as does Seth) so I'll probably be able to use the software Griffin released with their hardware.
For those more crafty than I, there are also directions on how to build the IR transmitter/receiver (which converts IR to/from sound). Very, very cool stuff.
